On the Grid

Nibbles!

My amazing mom drew this mouse (named Nibbles) for my kid today while I was napping on her sofa.  I have a really great mom who takes artistic abuse from hyper-critical five-year-olds in stride.

Reflections of a Time Gone By

Yesterday/Today

I took a photo out my front window yesterday to reassure myself that yes; Spring is here and the snow is leaving.  I woke up today to a fresh new hell.

Old News

I enjoy props with inside jokes for the actors.

Googly

A screen capture from a favourite iPhone app of Essie's after she drew some art.  She always draws one eye more googly than the other but the expression on this face is pretty awesome.

Replacement

I realized my picture on this day was very similar to one posted in January, so I now present a pile of junk.

A Reason To Get Out Of Bed

Waking up is hard to do but this certainly helped.

Cabaret

In 2002 I played my favourite role ever, The Emcee.  Since then, this has hung at the front of the rehearsal space.  The company is moving soon, so I thought I'd take a shot of this before it comes down (perhaps along with the building).

Tillie

I don't usually scour thrift stores but was in one today and couldn't resist grabbing this happy embroidered turtle for fifty cents.  The checkout clerk pointed out to me that the date on the back was September 7th, 1974.  Two days after I was born!  When I got home I did some research and it turns out this is a nice vintage crewel sampler from Sunset Designs, called Tillie Turtle.  I'd buy it if the shipping weren't silly.

Incidental Combine

Don't Trust The Media!

You might think this is a picture of a simple pothole but you are wrong.  This is a famous pothole.  A local celebrity pothole!  It's two doors down from me and when I was leaving the apartment today none other than handsome local reporter Paul Soucy was interviewing it.  I  checked and it was totally on the six o'clock news tonight as part of a report about potholes and the trouble they've been causing.  This particular pothole, however, is quite nice and not like those other troublesome potholes.

The moon we love like a brother...

Trying to capture the moon with an iPhone 4 is a heartbreaking affair.

Old And Blue

One of my most beloved possessions.  My sister made Blue Bear for me a long time ago and he's traveled around with me ever since.  He's a little the worse for wear these days and Essie is devastated that I won't give him to her but he's mine.

Cold, Clear Blue

And the apparent theme today was unplanned.

Beautiful Clouds

Leaving my mom's place tonight I was signaling to turn the corner when Essie suddenly said, "Look at those beautiful clouds!"  I looked and they were beautiful so put the car in park and snapped a shot.  I need to look more.

Listen to Keltie, Winter

That'll do, Winter. That'll do.

The fact that there's a nasty blowing snowstorm going on just feet away while Essie and I are having a luxurious day indoors keeps weirding me out.  I hope this is winter's last hurrah.

Deforestation

So much of what you see depends on your point of view.

Family Portrait

This has been hanging at my mom's for a while but Essie created this family portrait.  She's in the middle, Daddy is on the right and that's me on the left.  I will miss the days of lollipop people.  Her skills have already changed since this was drawn.

Blinded

It occurred to me that these haven't been opened in ages.  I'll blame it on my hectic schedule, but perhaps I've just grown lazy.

Saltine Toffee? Not a hit.

I made these yesterday.  Essie took one bite, gagged and spit it out.

Confused?

My barber seems to have the impression that I'm young.
